I've noticed that this swich (PoE version_ is trunking my VLANs (that are comming from Unifi Router). Devices with other subnet are no longer accessibe. Both on dumb and managed setting. Do you have any mitigation for this?

Im looking for a SSD/NVME NAS with 25GB SFP connections. The NAS needs to have a high level of redundancy/backup for critical data. It should be about 20TB in size. Wondering where I can find some sort of comparison tool or utility which will help me locate something like this?

Of course a later CPU might be nice, but the one piece missing is a real BMC. To put these anywhere, an out of band management interface would make this so competitive!

I just want to make sure that I understand the wrap up about those 10gb ports. I would want to use this as my main firewall running opnsense and an Omada controller LXC inside Proxmox connected to my 10gb core switch. Am I right in understanding that I can't connect these 10gb ports to the switch?

I wonder if you could cram all that hardware into a 2u but half width device. That'd make a good fanned version for people who don't have a rack (easier to fit on a bookshelf or whatever) or put in a coupler to still mount two of them in a full width 2u space. Also maybe a bigger (and user replaceable) fan.

has anyone brought up security concerns running this in a business environment with it being a chinese vendor?

On mine I have routed the second Sata port to a E-sata cable, and i have connected a 4 bay HDD enclosure on it! ;) it's not fast by any means but it's perfect for backup!

I mean... I still use a (not checkpoint anymore :P ) 1u with a G1820 as ASN router. Especially as I can't effort more then 1x 1G ports of carriers in the datacenter. But if they would offer me a free/same price 10g port uplink/IPX, that's a mashine that I would think about ^^

I have 5Gbps ethernet, are there any good options for a router/firewall that allows 5 or 10gbps ethernet? The options i have found are very expensive. Also running 10Gbps nics in 2 PCs, everything else on the network is 1Gbps.

It is all about killing secondary market. Time to stop buying them, what is next Cpu with built-in kill switch. Oh wait that is what this is.

Leider gibt nach wie vor keine einfache Möglichkeit nach DE (Germany) zu bestellen. Mit Umwege dann etwa 300+150 = 450$ für den Barbone :( / aber selbst über den Umweg klappt es momentan nicht nach De zu bestellen. Wäre Klasse wenn der Hersteller irgendwann auch mal in die EU / DE liefern würde.

That SFF8087 port would make this unit pair nicely with ye olde HP microservers and allow them to be used as 4 bay SATA expansion boxes, bypassing their elderly motherboards.

Years ago I moved to an Edgerouter because of the excellent throughput when using hardware offload, but I guess this would probably be fine as a 1Gbps software router?

The reason for the weak power supply is because there's no active cooling on the PSU. That means it's probably not such a good idea to install this somewhere that gets very warm... Like, inside a server rack. Considering that would also block the CPU fan, I REALLY wouldn't want to risk that. Especially, with all those 10gbps SFP+ cages. Plus, Patrick Attesteach suggests adding internal SATA SSDs? Ummm... I guess, he likes to live dangerously? I mean, in the studio, sure. But, a hot server rack inside a smart closet? Have fun with those waranty claims! Oh, who am I kidding? I've never heard of this company, and who knows if they'll honor their waranty.

I got one of these a few months ago. I’m generally pleased with it, but I did have a few initial issues with it. First, my SFP ports were not properly seated/flush with the case, and that made the SFP transceivers not click and lock. I think the main issue was a slight bend in the case. I opened it up and tried to line them up better, but then the power button wouldn’t click. That took a few tries to get right. Second, I ended up buying three different transceivers to get 10Gbit out of the unit. The HiFiber and 10GTek ones I bought initially would give me at most 1Mbit in one direction, while working ok-ish in the other direction. A third Cable Matters transceiver I got from Amazon worked properly. Finally, I initially tried running proxmox with OpnSense in one VM and Ubuntu with PiHole on another. The setup was pretty underwhelming. Long times to resolve and what-not. This might just be me misconfiguring the VMs. I ended up running OpnSense on bare-metal and that works flawlessly. With that said, my wife has made a few remarks about the fan noise in our master closet (aka. my network closet.)

Migrated from esxi to hyper-v back in 2019 when they ended perpetual and jacked up the pricing to per-core back then. Used StarWind to migrate, which was smooth. Win Server DC was cheaper per-core and had all the features we needed and more. We were already a mostly Microsoft OS company so it was easy to transition, especially given the unlimited instances included at no extra cost. An easy path to azure if need be. Not everyone can say that, but it worked for us. If you are linux-heavy then there are probably other alternatives that are likely cheaper or free.

I have no idea why people are saying 10G never came down in price to homelab or prosumer level. There are a ton of options for many different manufacturers, even for 25G, so why are people saying this???

The fan in the bottom basically makes this a 2U; not a 1U. Maybe if it were in the front or side, but you're not going to be able to stack this unit and still have airflow. Edit: I guess, you could place it above your patch panel, which isn't very ideal, but at least you aren't wasting a blank. Also, it might make sense to mount upside down, and then you could place it below the patch panel. I guess, that's OK as a router/firewall, but not a VM host, and especially not a HA cluster.

First of, whats running in powershell during the powerconsumption/noise bit? ..... wait, that whole system with 4 10G ports costs less than an Intel 4 port x710-DA4?

I prefer the CPU be an AMD Zen 3 😃 and RJ-45 that are multi-gigabyte (10, 5, 2.5, 1, 0.1 and 0.01Ghz). I suppose I have a long wait if ever 😆 Those "Mean Well" power supplies from Taiwan are very well designed and built (along with comprehensive documentation online). I've seen them used in mission critical VSAT satellite modems.

I got one of these a few months ago. It's been a great little box as a firewall.

The fan facing down in a rack unit is a bit odd and may cause problems in a full rack.

Why is there no unit with proper back to front cooling. Who mounts a switch that the fan blows down in a rack ? Switches get mounted in the back of the rack so you can run cables. So air needs to flow front to back.

Make this with an N100 at the same cost and I'd put them in inventory rotation. It would beat many of the all SSD NAS appliances coming out at ridiculous prices.

Sir good day, sir I want to ask, if the OS of this dell 3050 micro is installed on the 2.5inch ssd, but you put an NVME SSD that also has the OS installed, but you don't use the 2.5inch ssd will it boot up?

It's just a shame they don't do a slightly larger version that would allow a 3.5" drive. I could whack my 20TB drive in it and run it as a mini server with all my media , CCTV, etc, then cluster it.

Uh oh. I got the fanless version coming in soon and got 64gb of ecc rdimm memory to go with it. You said you were having issues with ecc memory though? Could you elaborate? I want a 2 or 3u with 1 pcie slot for a half height gpu and 5bays for plex / jelly

I have a question. Am I the only one who doesn't care for the idea of an all in one unit? I know it's overkill for a home lab, but my NAS doesn't do anything but NAS stuff. My router doesn't do anything but pfSense. My other services I don't consider 'critical' and can live in VMs on any of a number of mini-PCs I have around, but to my way of thinking a NAS and a router should always be stand alone devices.

I bought one after seeing this video and just had it die in my home lab. I would be wary of this PC as a home lab server, doesn't seem to be up to running over a long period of time. I've only had it a little over a month, so that doesn't bode well for it running as a server.

Can this ATOM CPU drive storage performance enough to saturate a 10Gbps link? To me it doesn't seem like it would be a viable choice for fast storage. I could be wrong but I am guessing the performance would be similar to the performance you might expect from an external USB 3.0 drive and no where near capable of 10Gbps.

I have the small, fanless version. It chokes hard on paperlessngx.
